Peter Sunde: I don't remember, but I assume it was in a chat room on the internet. 

One of the lawyers: When was the first time you met IRL? 

Peter Sunde: We don't use the expression IRL. We say AFK. But that's another issue. But, I don't remember that either.

Peter Sunde: We don't like that expression. We say AFK - Away From Keyboard. We think that the internet is for real.

Away From Keyboard

Away From Keyboard has several meanings. Most often it refers to a person that takes a break from online gambling or chatting (long or short). It could also mean that a person isn't logged in at a particular place (he/she could then be refered to as AFK eventough it's possible he/she is just playing somewhere else - similiar to offline). It is has also start to replace IRL (since technically everything is In Real Life).
